Here's My Gift to You, Wrapped in the Moment & Tied Neatly in a Bow of Loss

ryanraeharbuck

I have a day that celebrates both life and death, grief and joy, and everything in between.

Sunday is the 28th anniversary of the car accident that nearly took my life, took my friend, took a father. Yet, I choose to celebrate. There are gifts hidden within the loss.

A second chance.

A new lease.

Rebirth.

Growth.

An enlightened perspective.

A fervor for the world I never knew existed before.

So here's your note.

Join me. Take the gifts from the loss and embrace them for yourself.

It's true when they say you should treat each day as your last because there's never any guarantee otherwise. Yet, there's also something to be said about slowing down and holding on to the space in between. This world has so much to offer in your every day, no matter if you're stuck at work or in the car, you're feeling sick or even emotionally unwell.

Find the thing that matters right now, and do right by that. You don't need to go bungee jumping or take a last-minute flight to Paris. You simply need to find true meaning in your moment. And the gift that's held within it.

Cheers to you, and cheers to me. May this moment be one of many more to come, but if it's not, may it shine boldly like the sun in a crisp, cloudless sky.

Embrace your moment now, for always.
